Axis and Allied Powers
Everyone knows there are many countries in the world. During World War II, most of the worlds countries were in the war in some way. There were two main groups, the Axis powers, and the Allied powers. The Axis powers were what you would probably call the bad guys, who wanted to take over control. The Allied powers were pretty much the people who were trying to stop that from happening.
Allied powers: Great Britain, France, Russia and The United States.
Axis powers: Germany, Italy, Japan, and Hungary. There were other countries that followed but these are the most important countries for the Axis powers.
Leaders of the Allied powered countries
Great Britain- Winston Churchill. He was the Prime Minister from 1940-1945 and again from 1951-1955.
France- Charles de Gaulle. He was a leader of Free France, and he was the president of France from 1959-1969.
Russia- Joseph Stalin. Even though he wasn't what most would call a good leader, he was on the allied powers side because he didn't want Hitler taking over control of Russia.
United States- Franklin D. Roosevelt. Roosevelt was the president from March 4, 1933 – April 12, 1945. Franklin died while in office.
Leaders of the Axis powered countries
Germany- Adolf Hitler. Hitler was the chancellor of Germany from 1933-1945 when he killed himself.
Italy- Benito Mussolini. He was the Prime Minister of Italy from 1922-1943
Japan- Hideki Tojo. Hideki was the Prime Minister of Japan from 1941-1944
Hungary-Miklos Horthy. He was the Regent of the Kingdom of Hungary from 1920-1944
Allied powers: Great Britain, France, Russia and The United States.
