Key Battles in World War II
World War II was considered one of the bloodiest wars ever seen. The whole planet was pretty much in constant battle. When one country wasn't having a battle the one next to it probably was.
- The Battle of France- Hitlers ultimate plan was to take over Soviet Union. Since he knew it was be near impossible to do that if he was fighting a 2 front battle, he first set out to take over the lower countries of Europe including France. Hitler knew that if he could take over most of Europe then getting the Soviet Union would be easy.
- The Battle of Stalingrad- The Battle of Stalingrad cost Germany more than 200,000 troops, while more than a million Soviet soldiers died. In June 1942, Axis troops began to push farther onto Soviet territory.
